If you’re already using some of the social networking sites like facebook, twitter, linkedin, youtube, etc., then I’m sure you’ve seen some people that only promote their products or opportunity. You might click on their links if the adcopy stands out to you, but after seeing these people constantly advertising, you eventually ignore them or stop following or being their friend all together. This is not what these sites are for.
The social networks are social settings. You should be using them to make real acquaintances and show people that you are a real person. I’m not saying that you can never advertise, but most of your posts should not be advertisements. Tell people what you’re doing, ask questions, give inspiration… just get conversations going with your friends and followers. You should be treating your internet friends like you would treat your real friends. Once they get to know you, then you can exchange info with each other.
I would also suggest having a blog and using it on a regular basis. A blog is kind of like your own personal social networking site. Write useful information that will help your readers and keep them coming back. If you write good enough articles, your readers will start telling others to visit your blog as well. (The articles you write for your blog can also be used as conversation starters on your social sites.) When people comment on your blog or ask a question, reply to them as well and keep the conversation running. A blog also lets you have multiple tabs that you can use for anything you wish. Here is where you can put some recommended products.
Use as many of these social sites that you like and can handle. I think having a few accounts at some of the most used sites and actually using them on a regular basis is better than having many accounts all over that are unmanageable. Take advantage of either the top sites or the ones that you personally like the best. Link them all together so that people can find and connect with you there as well.

There are many different sites that will offer software that will automatically add friends or followers to your sites or views to your videos. I personally do NOT recommend using them for a couple reasons.
