Gold From Goals

Goals are the cornerstone of any business venture and should be incorporated with your daily work routine. The reason for goals is to set a clear and defined path to your success and without them you are on a path to failure.
I have goals! I want to make money online you might say... but how. I will show you how to set a goal and put together a game plan to accomplish that goal.
I have put together a road map on setting goals that will propel you to success if done properly. A bold statement... I know... now lets begin.
A goal should be a clear and concise statement put in the present tense and can be measured. I want to make money online is not good enough. How much money, by what date, how will you make that money, all questions that need to be answered in your goal. I will make $1000.00 with my http://www.dreams2freedom.com/ website within 30 days! That is a clear and concise statement put in the present tense and can be measured. This goal should be the product of all your shot term goals and you should be passionate about it. If you are not passionate about your goal you need to reevaluate what is important to you.
Now that you have a goal that is clear and concise statement put in the present tense and can be measured and you are passionate about you need to write it down every morning when you wake up. Next make a to-do list of everything you need to do that day to bring you closer to accomplishing your goal. This may sound petty but it is an essential step in hitting your goals, it keeps you focused and on the road to success. Writing your goal down gives you a visual of what you will accomplish and should be carried with you every where you go.
Visualize your goal 3 times a day. I suggest first thing in the morning, at lunch time, and when you lie down to go to bed. What do you mean visualize? I mean shut your eyes and see yourself with your goal. What are you wearing, where are you standing, who is with you, how does it feel. Do you get my point? I imagine myself getting out of a Dodge Viper wearing a three piece suit in front of my 4,000 square foot house with my wife standing in the door to greet me. We walk inside and I feel proud because my wife loves our house so much. Visualization gives you ownership of your goal and you will hold yourself accountable. Visualization is a strong tool because it will drive your wants into your subconscious mind where you make 80% of your decisions.
Now you are ready to commit to your goal. By this I mean tell any one that will listen to you what you are going to accomplish. Stand outside and shout it in the air, write it in the sand at the beach, put a big sign on that says I am a Goal Setter and a Goal Hitter. Don't be scared of what other people think of you, people love to pull other people down to their level. Make your goal known and strive daily to move closer and closer to achieving great success.
"I am not judged by the number of times I fail but by the number of times I succeed and the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep trying"-unknown author
Strive to set goals and hit goals. You are the captain on your vessel to financial freedom, where you take it is up to you. Use your goals as a compass and you will always be heading in the right direction.

Making Profits from Online Home Businesses

Although there is a lot of hype surrounding Internet marketing, many people have successfully created online businesses from home. Part of the attraction has to do with the ability to control your lifestyle while making money. The potential to earn a six-figure salary from your home-based business is very real but like any business, shortcuts seldom work efficiently or have any long-lasting effect.
Online/internet business systems
Running an Internet business takes the same care, dedication and tenacity as any other business venture. In order to be successful you must have either working capital, sweat equity or both. Although it is possible to gain success without knowing what you're doing, that kind of lucky break is akin to winning the lottery. If you're going to invest time and money into a venture, it is best to work with an online business system that has proven success.
Whether you are getting into a specific niche in order to earn extra money from internet businesses from home or you are planning to replace your full-time job, having a solid foundation from which to work allows you to build your business with confidence. Many new Internet marketing students go from one business idea to another, never accomplishing anything substantial. They may try something for a little while with little success and quickly move onto something else in hopes of finding the magic formula to quick Internet riches.
Market your product
Getting enough people in front of the offer is one of the most frustrating points for many new Internet marketers. Countless conflicting ideas and theories get presented as facts to new online business owners. If you are new to operating an online business from home, you'll want to stay very focused on marketing once all the pieces are in place and you are open for business.
Most experienced people who run an online business from home will tell you that one of the key principles of success in the business is consistency. Once they are able to put specific actions into play each day, they are then able to track the results. By following a proven plan to develop and market their business, many part time entrepreneurs become full-time online business owners. Getting started in one of the many online businesses from home doesn't take much in the way of initial capital. If you have more time than money you can still be successful.

21 Steps to Home Business Success

Fifty million home-based businesses will be in operation by 1997, according to Link Resource's National Work-at Home Survey. All around the country, people who want more control over their lives are starting home businesses In New Orleans, Rick Hart's home based cajun Cargo ships seafood nation wide. In Palatine, Illinois, Stephaine Heavey works from home designing and selling original patterns for fabric dolls. And in Dallas, Lisa McElya published the Dallas Party & Event Planners Guidebook from the entire first floor of her two-story home. These three people are living the new American dream of owning a business, but avoiding the high overhead and start-up costs of a commercial location. If the idea of working from home is appealing, but you don't know where to begin, here is a step-by-step guide. STEP #1 DECIDE WHAT PART OF THE HOUSE TO USE Select an area away from family activity. The perfect space is a separate room (or perhaps the garage), but any area will do, if it can hold all the business supplies and equipment, and also provide enough work space for desks, tables, or counters. STEP #2 DETERMINE HOW MUCH TIME YOU CAN SPEND ON THE BUSINESS Many people start a home business on a part-time basis while raising children or working outside the home. Others start full-time when family and finances allow. However you begin, figure out how may hours per week you can devote to the business Make a weekly chart of your activities, examine it, and determine where the business fits. Don't assume you have time and find out later you don't. STEP #3 DECIDE ON THE TYPE OF BUSINESS Make a list of things you like to do, your work and volunteer experience, and items you own that can be used in a business. Look over this line-up, and using ideas from it, list possible businesses to start. Eliminate any business that isn't appealing or doesn't fill a need people have. For ideas on different types of businesses, consult the end of this article. Other ideas can be found in the source material listed at the end of this article. STEP #4 CHOOSE A LEGAL FORM The three basic legal forms are sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation. The most common is the sole proprietorship. As its name implies, a sole proprietorship is owned by one individual. It is the oldest form of business, the easiest to start, and the least complicated to dissolve. Here are some of the advantages of this business form: 1. You own all the profits
2. Your business is easy and cheap to organize. You don't need any government approval, although you may be required to carry a city, state or county license. Your only other obligation is to notify the Internal revenue Service (IRS) for the purposes of sales tax.
3. You're the boss
4. You enjoy certain tax savings. You must pay regular individual taxes on your income, property, and payroll, but these are not levied as special taxes, as with a corporation. You will also have to pay sales tax which you have received from your customers.
5. Greater personal incentive and satisfaction. Since you have your investment to lose if your business is not successful, you should be more willing to put time, thought, and energy into the business. And when your business is successful, you enjoy maximum sense of accomplishment since you know its success was dependent upon your decisions about your management ability alone. For more information about this and other forms of business, send for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Publication MP25. Selecting the Legal Structure for Your BUsiness (50 cents). It outlines the advantages and disadvantages of each legal type of structure. If after reading it you are still uncertain what form of the business should take, consult an attorney. STEP #5 DETERMINE WHERE THE MONEY WILL COME FROM There are three ways to finance start-up costs: use your own money, obtain a loan, or find investors. If possible, it is better to start small, use your savings, and not worry about repaying a debt. also keep in mind that since you are a home-based, chances of qualifying for a loan or finding investors are slim until the success of your idea is proven. STEP #6 GATHER INFORMATION Spend a few weeks researching home-based businesses. A library or bookstore can provide numerous books on business basics, and on the specific type of business that interest you. Homemade Money by Barbara Brabee (see sources) is an excellent book to start with. If you are considering a computer business, get in touch with the association of Electronics; Cottagers, P.O. Box 1738, Davis, CA 95617-1738. To keep informed of what is happening in home business world, contact National Home Business report, P.O. Box 2137, Naperville, IL 60566, for subscription information; and Mothers Home Business Network, P.O. Box 423, East Meadow, NY 11554 (send SASE for free information). STEP #7 CHECK ON ZONING RESTRICTIONS Find out how your property is zoned, the call City Hall and ask what regulations apply to home businesses in that zone. Also, if you rent or live in a condominium, check the lease or homeowner's association rules to be certain a home business is allowed. Generally, if you do not annoy your neighbors with excess noise, odors, and traffic, you will not be deterred from running a business at home. The neighbors may not even be aware of the business, but it is necessary to know exactly what you can and can't do before you start. This is important should any problems or questions arise later. STEP #8 PICK A BUSINESS NAME AND REGISTER IT If the business you choose is different form your name, file an assumed (or fictitious) name certificate with the county. You are notified if another business already has that name, so you can select a new one. Do this before investing in expensive stationery and brochures. It costs only a few dollars to file, and it protects the business name from being used by someone else in the county. STEP #9 WRITE A BUSINESS PLAN A good business plan clarifies your ideas and establishes a plan of action. A good business plan should include a description of what you are selling, your background and qualifications, who the prospective customers are and where they can be found, what is needed to build the business, how you plan to promote, and how much money is need for start-up costs. SBA Publication #M925, The Business Plan for Home-Based Business ($1) is helpful. STEP #10 GET AN IDENTIFYING NUMBER If you are the sole proprietor of the business and have no employees, you may either use your Social Security number or an Employee Identification Number (EIN) as the business number on official forms. If you have employees, or the business is set up as a partnership or corporation, you must obtain an EIN. To do this, complete IRS Form SS-4 (Application for Employer Identification Number) and file it with the nearest IRS Center. STEP #11 OBTAIN A SALES TAX PERMIT If the product or service you sell is taxable, you need a state sales tax permit. Call the local tax agency, explain the type of business you have and what you sell, and ask if you need to collect sales tax. If you do, they will send you the necessary information and forms to complete. You also use this tax number when your purchase items for resale. STEP #12 OBTAIN LICENSES & PERMITS It's very important not to overlook any necessary license or permit. For example, some cities and counties require a general business license, and most have special laws regarding the preparation and sale of food. Call City Hall to find out what is need for your particular business. In addition, Chamber of Commerce provide information on city, county and state licenses and permits. STEP #13 SELECT BUSINESS CARDS, STATIONERY, BROCHURES Spend time on the color, design and paper for these items. They make a definite impression-good or bad- on the people who receive them. If you are not certain what is most suitable and effective, consult a graphics designer or a creative printer whose work you like. STEP #14 OPEN A BUSINESS CHECKING ACCOUNT Call several banks to find out what services they offer, and what minimum balance, if any, must be maintained to avoid paying a service charge. Also ask about credit card if you plan to offer this convenience to your customers. Bank fees can be significant, so shop around for the best deal. If your personal checking account is with a credit union, see if it can also provide a separate business account. when you open your account, you may need to show the assumed name certificate and business license. Finally, investigate obtaining a credit card in the business's name. If this is not possible, set aside a personal credit card to use for business expenses. STEP #15 SET UP RECORD-KEEPING SYSTEMS Put together a simple and effective bookkeeping system with an 8 1/2 x 11" three-ring binder, columnar pad sheets and twelve pocket dividers from the office supply store. For each month, set up columnar sheets for income and expenses. Use a pocket divider for each month's receipts, bank statement, deposit tickets, and canceled checks. In addition, an automobile log for business mileage, and filing system for correspondence, invoices, supplier catalogs, client records, etc. are two other useful tools. For more information on record-keeping, see IRS publication #583, Information for Business taxpayers. STEP #16 CHECK IRS REQUIREMENTS If you comply with basic IRS guidelines, you can deduct a percentage of normal household expenses (mortgage, interest, taxes, insurance, utilities, repairs, etc.) as a business expense. see the box accompanying this article and, for more detailed information, IRS publication #587, Business Use of the Home. Also become familiar with these IRS forms: Schedule SE (compensation of Social Security Self-Employment Tax) and Schedule 1040 ES (estimated Tax for Individuals). Depending on circumstances, you may have to file them. STEP #17 OUTFIT THE BUSINESS Make a list of everything needed to start the business, but before you buy anything, look around the house for things you already own that are usable. When you are ready to start purchasing, check the classified ads and garage sales. Both are good, inexpensive sources for office furniture, typewriters, computers, answering machines, etc. But only what is absolutely necessary for start-up, and wait until the business is off the ground to get the extras. STEP #18 DECIDE ON TELEPHONE REQUIREMENTS Call the telephone company to find out the cost of a business phone in your area. If you cannot afford a separate business line, investigate the telephone company's regulations on using your personal phone in a business. It may be possible to do this if you follow certain guidelines. Keep a record of long distance business calls as they are a deductible expense. Finally, consider the benefits of an answering machine to catch calls when you are out. STEP #19 CHECK OUT THE POST OFFICE & UPS Using a post office box as the business address down plays the fact you are home-based. It also prevents customers from dropping in at all hours. While looking into box rental, ask for information on the various postal rates, particularly bulk rate, if you plan to do large or specialized mailings. If you mail many packages, check out United Parcel Service (UPS), as it is less expensive than the Post Office. STEP #20 PURCHASE THE NECESSARY INSURANCE Check with your homeowners insurance agent about a rider for your existing policy or the need for a separate business policy. Also make sure you have adequate personal and product liability coverage. Shop around, as each company has different rules regarding home businesses To save money on medical insurance, join an association and participate in their group plan. One such body is The National association for the Self-Employed: they can be reached at 800-527-5504. STEP #21 ORGANIZE THE HOUSE & YOURSELF To have more time for business, organize and simplify household routines. Start by holding a garage sale to get rid of unnecessary possessions. Next, have a family conference and divide household duties, making sure each person does his or her part. The, set up a planning notebook to keep track of appointments, things to do, calls to make, errands to run, shopping, etc. Finally, set up a work schedule so you won't get sidetracked by TV, neighbor's visits, snacking, and telephone calls. Creating and operating a home business is a wonderful and rewarding challenge. The satisfaction is not only in the money earned, but in doing what makes you happy.

When Your Home is Your Workplace.

Certainly organizing any household can be difficult, but when your home is also your office, the challenge can be overwhelming. Statistics show there are more than 25 million income-generating home offices in the U.S., and the number is growing.
As someone who has worked from a home office for over 20 years and a mother with five grown children, I've undoubtedly made every mistake possible. The joy and flexibility of working at home can quickly turn your house into a prison unless you take some preventive measures. Consider these tips to make living and working at home less stressful and more productive:
1. Position your office location carefully. If at all possible, separate your workplace from your living space, so you can physically leave your work. If you're working at home in order to take care of children, consider hiring childcare while you work - studies show your work productivity (and potential for profit) will increase, and so will the quality of life for your children.
2. Continually eliminate clutter. For years I have fought the myth that being organized means being a neatnik. When you remove the old batteries, loose change, dried-up pens, keys to unknown places, expired coupons, and postage stamps of strange denominations from the kitchen junk drawer, what you have left is useful. If there's a paperclip mixed in with the keys, it doesn't really matter. You can organize it more - and it will be easier to keep organized if you do, but it isn't a necessity. Clutter is frequently excess, and excess cannot be organized!
3. Choose a calendar system that works for you. If you're working at home, chances are it's difficult to tell when business ends and home begins - so you'll probably want a calendar or planner system that encompasses both your personal and professional life. In addition, create a method for sharing information that all the family needs to know. It may be something as simple as a calendar on the refrigerator with a different color pen for each member of the family.
4. Develop a system for meals to suit your style. The need to eat can create chaos or increase quality of life, depending upon how you approach it. I used to think that because I was a professional organizing consultant, I should have all my meals for the week planned by Sunday night. I soon discovered that even though my meal plan said it was spaghetti night, I wasn't in the mood. Now, I keep lots of staples on hand so I can create something delightful with the perishables I bought over the weekend.
5. Create separate filing systems for your personal life and professional life. Research shows that the average person spends 150 hours per year looking for misplaced information. And, certainly nothing creates a family crisis faster than a 15-year- old who needs a copy of his birth certificate to get into driver's Ed training, and you can't find it! If it fits in a file, put it there - and keep a list of your files, called a File Index - so you, or someone else, can find it when needed. (Kiplinger's Taming the Paper Tiger software creates the index automatically, and allows you to find anything you file or store in five seconds or less.
6. Get enough sleep. According to sleep experts, in order to be fully productive, you need to spend one-third of your life in bed. Many of us say, "I don't have time to sleep" - but research shows we can't afford to continually deprive ourselves and others who suffer because of our sleep deprivation. Sleep provides power to energize the body and the mind. Dr. James B. Maas, author of Power Sleep says that if you fall asleep immediately when your head hits the pillow or need an alarm clock to wake up, you need more sleep! (And you may solve a problem while you're doing it!)
7. Eliminate perfectionism. Someone once told me "A perfectionist is someone who takes great pains and gives them to everyone else." If you want to make yourself and the others around you miserable, insist on perfectionism. I have always found it fascinating that the most disorganized people in the world frequently have pockets of perfectionism - spices in alphabetical order in a cupboard over a counter where there's no room to cook. Productivity is about progress, not perfectionism!
If you're working at home, or thinking about it, remember that "home is where the heart is" - and it can be a great place to make a living too!

How to Reorganize Your Time to Accomodate A Home Based Business

Almost everyone needs or wants more money coming in, and with this desire most would like to start some sort of extra income-producing project. The trouble is, not many of these people seem able to fit "a second job" into their time schedules.
It's true that most people are busy, but extra time for some sort of home-based extra income-producing project can almost always be found. It may mean giving up or changing a few of your favorite pastimes - such As having a couple of beers with the guys or watching "reality TV" - but if you score big with your extra income project, you will have all the time you want for doing whatever you want to do.
The first thing to do is to sit down with pencil and paper and list your daily schedule. What time do you wake up? Then step-by-step, list everything you do each day. Most people will find that they have about three hours each day that can be utilized in a more constructive or efficient manner.
Efficient time management boils down to planning what you're going to do, and then doing it. Start by making a list of the things you want to do tomorrow, each evening before you go to bed. Schedule your errands to coincide with the other things you have to do and with your trips to or from work. Take stock of the time you spend standing around shooting the breeze - especially the time you spend on the telephone - and eliminate all that isn't necessary.
Whatever chores you have to do at home, set aside a specific time to do them, and a specific amount of time to devote to them. Don't try to do a week's work in one big flurry. Whether it's painting your house, fixing leaky faucets, or mowing your lawn and trimming your shrubs, do a part of it, or one particular job each day, and you'll be amazed at your progress.
Take care of all your mail the day you receive it. Don't let those bills and letters pile up on you. If you're unable to pay a bill immediately, file it in a special place that's visible, and note on the envelope the date you intend to pay it. Answer your letters the same day you get them.
The important thing is to think of time as your most valuable asset, because it is. So organize! Decide what you have to do, and what you want to do. From there, it's just a matter of arranging priorities. Once you start listing and planning what you want to do, and then carry out your plans, you'll find plenty of "extra time" for handling virtually any kind of home-based income-producing project. You may not like routines or schedules, but without some sort of plan as to what is supposed to be done, you won't achieve your goals. The secret of all financially successful people is simply that they are organized and do not waste time. Think about it. Review your own activities, and then see if you can't find a couple of extra hours in each day for more constructive accomplishments.
When you begin planning, and then when you really become involved in an extra in come-producing endeavor, you should work it exactly as you have organized your regular day-to-day activities - on a time-efficient basis. Do what has to be done immediately. Don't try to get done in an hour something that's realistically going to take a week. Plan out on paper what you have to do - what you want to do - and when you are going to do it. Then get right on each project without procrastination.
Finally, and above all else, when you're organizing your time and your business, be sure to set aside some time for relaxation. Be sure to schedule time when you and your spouse can be together. Don't be so wrapped up in your business that your family has forgotten what you look like.

Getting Cranked Up With A Home Based Business

Its no secret that in todays economy, it is becoming increasingly difficult for one to be financially-independent, especially with the rising cost of goods and lack of jobs available. So it would really be a blessing if you can earn some extra cash on the side that will help keep you in good shape. Initially, it might not pay enough for you to be completely independent, but any amount of cash that can help pay the day to day expenses is a very good thing. This is where the importance of home-based business opportunities comes in, as it allows you to earn that extra bit of cash to ease your worries.
How to start your own home-based business
The best way to go about starting your home-based business is to identify what you love to do, and then see if it can be turned in to viable home-based business. Complicated as it may sound, it really isnt. For instance, if you are great at sewing, then this can easily be turned in to a lucrative business opportunity with little or no investment. You dont even need any signboard outside; you can conduct all your advertising and handle your bookings online.
Most businesses nowadays start as small home-based business operations that grow in time and find themselves in a position to expand further. There is no reason why your particular home-based venture cant do the same. All you need is the right attitude and a market that is ready for your particular idea and your business will surely be successful.
Online businesses
The easiest and most common home business opportunity lies in e-commerce. It is by far, one of the fastest growing industries in the world in terms of the number of businesses that have taken that route. The numbers are growing even further with every passing year. Whether you want to sell your clothes or any other goods that you may own, selling online is one of the easiest ways to earn money. You would just need to check in a few times a day to see if people have placed any orders. People have even started to sell customized t-shirts and shoes online, and have adopted this is as a full time, legitimate home-based opportunity.
You can even be a professional seller at auction sites like yahoo auction or eBay. This would require you to ship items and wait for the money to come in. According to eBay, there are over a million professional sellers on their website, and you can add your name to that list if you want to adopt this as your home-based business operation.
Conclusion
With living and earning money becoming more and more difficult these days, starting a home-based business can really be a very practical move that you should be considering. However, your business operation will not be worth it if you are earning only a minimal amount for the effort you put in. So to ensure that you will profit from your endeavor, plan and strategize very carefully. And when you start getting some profit, be sure to put aside some so that you will have something to reinvest for the future of your business. The ultimate purpose of all businesses should be to grow and this is definitely no different for a home-based model.

Are You In It For The Long Haul?

Do you own a home business? Now I'm not talking about the twice yearly yard sale. I am talking about a legitimate home based business. It doesn't matter what type of business you are running affiliate marketing, ecommerce website, ebay auctions, etc.). The question remains the same: Are you in it for the long haul?
What exactly is the "long haul" you may ask? I consider the long haul sticking with something long enough to truly determine if it is something that is going to work for you.
I've got you thinking now, huh?
Well if you are like me, you know some one that has tried their hand at everything. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with checking out different ways to have a home based business. Owning your own business is a GREAT thing.
What I am talking about here is that person that gets into something for a few weeks or months, quits or drops out, then starts something new just to find that this new thing is not what they are looking for either. On top of this, a lot of times this person will tell everyone they know that none of these programs or businesses are any good.
Now as I said, there is nothing wrong with "kicking the tires" to see what is out there. The big thing is when you find something, give it an HONEST effort.
How long this honest effort may take can only be determined by you and the program you are promoting or the business you are starting. Go into it with an open mind. (TIP: There are NO "Sit back and do nothing and get rich overnight" opportunities).
Understand what you are getting involved with and determine your goals. Once you have these goals in place, HONESTLY work your business. If you fail to reach your set goals, step back and look at where you are. This will give you a good idea if this business is going to get you where you want to be.
Don't get me wrong. I am by no means telling you to stick with something that is OBVIOUSLY not working. None of us are in business to lose money. Just remember that building a STRONG home business can take a lot of work and a lot of time. It is not something to be taken lightly.
In closing let me say that if you are a "tire kicker" and jump from one "sure thing" to the next, do us all a favor. If you don't give the program or business an HONEST effort and enough time to truly determine what you have, don't go around spreading "how bad this or that program" is. Let others make up their own minds. What may not have worked for you, may be that "sure thing" for some one else.
