When you think of starting a small business and taking the leap to become an entrepreneur, it helps to seek some advice from entrepreneurs who have already experienced what you are attempting to do. New Entrepreneurs often are strong-headed, and think they don't need advice. They forge ahead, launch their new business without getting a second opinion, and end up paying the price. Their entrepreneurial education comes from making mistakes and delaying the success of their new businesses. When starting any new venture it is a good idea to consult with experienced entrepreneurs. Their advice is usually enthusiastic and cautionary, since they usually want new entrepreneurs to succeed.
Becoming an entrepreneur means entering into a world of creative solutions. New entrepreneurs will eventually learn the skills needed for survival, but simply asking the advice of another entrepreneur, and finding a mentor or role model can help smooth out the entrepreneurial learning curve.
I have had many businesses. At last count, I started fourteen of them, mostly from scratch. These ranged from stores to service companies. I found out the hard way that when I did not have the support and advice of mentors, the businesses were doomed to languish. The others benefited greatly from having mentorship. Recently, when considering starting another venture, I found a business which has a built-in support system of teachers and mentors.
