What does being rich mean to you?
Success is not only a funny thing, but it is so highly subjective and different for every single person on this planet. To define "success" as anything to do with money, is not a complete or accurate definition of the term at all. We can be easily programmed for sure. Every single person is successful right now, according to their own unique value system. Bill Gates has no more success than you do. He has more money, not more success. So what is "rich"? In my childhood, there were many days I felt rich inside due to my vast amount of friends. My pockets were always empty, but the feeling of being rich was there.
If you live in the United States and earn a six figure income you are in the top 1% of the rest of the country. Six figures has not been a lot of money since the 70's. Rich to you may mean making enough money to pay all the bills and still be with kids at home. I get that definition. Family is very important to me and my value system as well. Since this article is about business and making money, lets agree to stick to financial measurements. We MUST define what something is to establish a point A before we begin to travel to our destination of point B.
What most of you may not know, is no matter how much money most make, they do not manage it well. What I mean is, that person you may envy who has a big house and fancy cars or boats, might be broke, or living paycheck to paycheck too. They live at a higher lifestyle than most, but many who make three hundred to five hundred thousand a year are broke. It is not how much one makes, but what you do with how much you make. I will tell you a "secret" of the rich that is simple both to do, and to overlook. Pay yourself first. When your light bulb not only goes on, but you actually do it, your life has changed. To know something, is to do something. The best example I can think of is a lady who died a few years back in NYC. She worked a low paying job in the school system and never made over $18,000. She survived the depression and saved and donated about 15 million dollars for a scholarship foundation for the NY Library.
If you are ready to start your own business from home, what preparations have you made? If you have simply made an internal decision, that is great, but you have not come close to being ready. Get a pad of paper and a writing instrument. Do not use the computer or word. Write this one down in your own handwriting. Why do you want to be rich? Why do you want a home business? How much of a commitment will you make to your business? If it less than, "whatever it takes", you may not be qualified. There are many great things to do on the Internet to make some money from home. We are not talking about that arena. If you miss your goal, then change the time line of your goal, not the goal itself.
Right now you may be a "nothingaire". Your goal is to become a "hundreaire". Once there, then becoming a thousandaire is an attainable goal in a short time.
Great sports teams preach "sticking to the basics". Continue to practice and implement what got you there. When you were broke and now about to become a ten-thousandaire and realize, slow is fast, and fast is slow. It didn't take that long. While it was not getting rich quick, once done, you can do it again, and likely a bit faster the next time around. Getting rich slow, is not appealing to me whatsoever, but getting rich quick is something that spells disaster. Stay away from anyone who says it is "easy". It is simple for sure, and usually disguised in jeans and gloves with lots of sweat and work attached. In my experience, personal growth always comes before financial growth.
I think Jim Rohn states best, "set a goal to become a millionaire, not for the money itself, but for the person you will need to become in order to achieve that...". Thanks for that bit Jim, great stuff! I truly get it that money is not important to most of the population, or else they would all have it! Money is near the bottom of my value list of the 7 areas of life. One of the items you can learn, is to find what is your highest values in life, and then link making money to that value. If you are like me, then your family is at the top. Maybe your friends? Could be your church or spiritual needs. Whatever it is, anchoring your business success to what is truly important to you, is a big time secret of getting rich.
When you start to make over $500,000 a year and you are saving, investing, and managing that money wisely, you are rich. At first you are comfortable. When you do that for 10 years and money saved and your money is now making you money, you are well on your way to lifestyle freedom. What fulfills you internally is easily within reach. The principles taught by David Bach about becoming an automatic millionaire, and it is never too late to start and still finish rich are true. Making less than half a million is not a failure either. Our goals are wise if they cause us to stretch out for them, but they must be attainable. Maybe paying off your home would be a wise first goal?
Most of our world lives each day on about $2 a day. What is astonishing to me how much value was placed on school and education, and how little everyone has. To feel more or less successful than another means to compare your insides to their outsides, and that is crazy! In order to feel success, you must compare yourself to another person. Everyone is successful equally according to your own unique self. You are "doing you" perfectly already, you cannot mess it up. We will choose each day to fill our lives with either high priority values, or lower priority values. They simply resonate at varying frequencies for your life. They are not good or bad, just different. School never taught us how to raise children, have great relationships, or make, grow, and protect a good money supply.
Television for me is one of the lowest values I could choose for my short life. We got rid of the TV in 1987. My children have all been raised without it. So many are broke and still pay a cable bill. If you are in your sixties, think how much a monthly cable invested in a compound interest type of fund would be worth over 40 years? More than lots likely. You could now live the lifestyle you got to watch others live.
Good news and bad news. Anyone can start a home business for under $50. That is bad, because you may not treat it like a million dollar opportunity that it is. Good, as anyone can get started today and begin their quest to getting rich. Most who put over $100,000 into a business want to get busy working as they have a lot invested and need to produce quite a bit just to reach zero. You may need to "trick your mind" about things at first. Your mindset is everything. I do not think Michael Jordon's physical self, or Wayne Gretzky's size was the difference maker in their careers and achievements. It was the what was between their ears that made them great.
Right now ones financial gains are usually equal to the service one provides society. If you want to make more money, provide more service is a simple and attainable formula. If you could help every single person who wants to make money on the Internet, do you think that is a great place to start? Dr. Mike
